Everything you need to know about baba — the real-time map for sport. No planning, no commitment. Just show up.
baba is the first real-time map for sport. It shows you where people are playing right now, lets you join in with one tap, and lets you signal to others that you're on your way. Think of it like ordering an Uber but for sport. No group chats, no scheduling, no commitments.
No. That's the whole point. baba is built for spontaneous activity. You open the app, see what's happening near you, and show up. You can also create a lobby yourself and invite others to join.
A lobby is an activity session at a specific location. Anyone can create a lobby — just pick a spot, a sport, and tap create. Others nearby can see it on the map and join with one tap.
Open the app and check the live map. Active spots show up as pins — the more players, the more visible the location. You can filter by sport type from the home screen to find exactly what you're looking for.
"On My Way" is a one-tap signal that tells other players at a location that you're heading there. It creates social momentum and lets the group know to expect you.
Checking in at a location makes you visible on the map to others nearby. It's the signal that says "I'm here, come play." Your friends get notified, and the location lights up for anyone looking. The more check-ins a spot has, the more it becomes a hotspot.
Just leave the lobby in the app. No-shows erode trust for everyone, so it's good practice to let others know if your plans change. We'll remind you before the session starts so you don't forget.
baba is a public, community-driven platform — similar to showing up at a public court. All activities happen in public spaces. We encourage you to use common sense, just as you would at any park or sports ground.
Your location is only visible to others when you actively check in or mark yourself as "on my way". You are in full control — nothing is shared passively without your action.
Yes. All users agree to baba's Code of Conduct when signing up. It sets the standard for respectful, inclusive behaviour on and off the pitch. Violations can be reported directly in the app.
Use the report function in the app — available on every user profile and inside every lobby. We take all reports seriously and will follow up promptly.
By default, lobbies are open to the baba community, but you can always switch your lobby to "private" so you can limit who can see and join your sessions. Once you have invited friends, those friends can always add their friends.
baba currently focuses on urban, informal sports — including football, basketball, volleyball, and calisthenics/outdoor fitness. More sports will be added as the community grows.
baba is currently launching in Berlin. We're starting where the density of outdoor courts and spontaneous sports culture is strongest. More cities are coming — follow us to stay updated.
We've mapped Berlin's public courts, parks, and outdoor sports areas to start. Can't find your favourite spot? Just let us know and we'll add it.
Mostly no — casual drop-in games are the default on baba. Check the lobby description before heading over, as some sessions may specify skill level or equipment. When in doubt, just show up.
Yes. baba is free to download and use.
Download the app, create an account, and you're in. Onboarding takes under two minutes — our goal is to get you to your first check-in fast.
If your friends are already on baba, you can search for them by name or username in the Profile screen and send them a friend request. Once connected, you'll see when they check in and where they're playing.
If they're not on baba yet, you can send them your personal invite. Once they accept you'll be connected as friends automatically.
Yes — baba is available on both platforms simultaneously.
